2023-2024 Grant:
Please join us in congratulating Michael Azar, the 2023-2024 Friends of Murray Library Student Research Grant awardee. Michael will graduate in 2025 with a B.S. in Biology (Biomedical Concentration) and B.A. in Music (Keyboard Composition).
His research project is entitled "Effects of Proglumide on Expression of Fibrosis in Pancreatic Cells." Michael's topic involves utilizing both his knowledge in cellular biology and biochemistry that he has acquired over the last three years to examine how proglumide, a drug that has been shown to help improve pancreatic cancer treatment in mice, affects expression of pancreatic cancer cells. His project will involve creating a new protocol for cell culture, isolating genetic material, and running statistical analyses of the isolated material to determine the mechanism of action for the drug.
Michael's research will culminate with a presentation at the annual Friends dinner in the fall of 2024. Dr. John Harms is Michael's faculty advisor.
Congratulations Michael!
