ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ launches Doctor of Science in physical therapy degree
ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ School of Graduate and Professional Studies is pleased to announce the addition of a Doctor of Science in physical therapy (DSc in PT) degree to its graduate curriculum. The Dsc in PT is a terminal academic degree for physical therapy clinicians who would like to transition into higher education as an educator or for clinical professors interested in transitioning to a tenure-track research-focused role. Classes begin in July 2023.
“In the last year, ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ has expanded its continuing education options for physical therapists,” said Jennifer Fisler, dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ. “In addition to PT continuing education courses and an orthopedic clinical residency program, we are excited to announce that we will be one of a few institutions in the United States to offer a Doctor of Science in physical therapy degree.”
An educational partnership with NAIOMT has allowed ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ to bring robust post-graduate education options to ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ DPT graduates and the PT community. “We are jointly forming this degree to intentionally promote lifelong learning and to develop the next generation of scholars, educators and higher education leaders,” said Rob Pepper, executive director/assistant to the president for innovation and university partnerships at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ.
ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ’s DSC in PT can be completed predominantly online and in four to five years. It has degree tracks in academic leadership and orthopaedic manual therapy. For more information, visit messiah.edu/DSC_PT.
