Over the past few years, the Percussion Ensemble at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ has quickly established itself as one of the premier chamber ensembles on campus. Performing in Parmer Hall, our state-of-the-art, 950 seat concert hall, students are exposed to the depth and breadth of the Percussion Ensemble idiom through performance in both the large ensemble and chamber percussion setting and by programming both classic works for percussion as well as new works by the some of the most popular composers of today. Recently, the Ensemble has embarked on a yearly collaboration with ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ’s own GiViM Dance Ensemble, in which both ensembles explore the creation of choreographed dance performance within the percussion ensemble idiom. In addition to on-campus performances, the Percussion Ensemble performs in several off-campus concerts a year, including yearly performances at the Pennsylvania Day of Percussion and the Chamber Competition at the Percussive Arts Society’s International Convention (PASIC). The Percussion Ensemble also plays host to the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Percussion Symposium every year, which welcomes several areas Middle and High School Percussion Ensembles to campus for a day of performances and clinics with guest artists.
