Graduate Assistant, Women's Volleyball

Position Title:Graduate Assistant, Women's Volleyball (ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ campus)

Department: Athletics Ddepartment

Reports To: Head Women's Volleyball Coach

 

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Head Women's Volleyball Coach, the graduate assistant will perform duties related to coaching the women's volleyball program. This is a two year, 20 hours/week, appointment not to exceed 800 hours/year.  Commitment runs from approximately August 4th – May 30th each of the two years.

Education Required:  Bachelor's degree required; current enrollment in one of the degrees within the graduate program in Higher Education Leadership at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ.

Experience Required: Previous playing or coaching experience at the collegiate level

  • Demonstrated commitment to the student athlete success on and off the court
  • Knowledge of volleyball skills and techniques in order to give accurate feedback to student athletes
  • Excellent people skills with demonstrable evidence of the ability to work with individuals of varying educational, financial and cultural backgrounds
  • Excellent verbal, listening, written, judgment and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Christian faith commitment required

Special Working Conditions: Must be able to work evening and weekends.

Primary Duties

  • Assist the head coach with conducting practice and specific workouts
  • Coordinating travel and meal details for away matches
  • Requesting video/scouting reports from common opponents
  • Organizing and compiling statistics requested by head coach
  • Giving appropriate feedback to student athletes when necessary
  • Assist with preparing and conducting fundraising activities
  • Assist in coordinating recruit visits and attend local recruiting events
  • Available to drive a team van to away matches
  • Delegate responsibilities to team members (ie. Taking stats, setting up camera, shagging balls...)
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance
