Graduate Assistant, Athletic Communications (ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ campus)

Position Summary: Assist the  Director of Athletic Communications in providing information to national and conference offices, opponents, ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ publics, and the general public regarding the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Athletics Department. Serve as a role model in meeting our complementary goals of “Pursuing Athletic Excellence…Developing Christian Character.” This is a two year, 20 hours/week appointment not to exceed 800 hours/year. Commitment runs from approximately August 1st –May 31st each of the two years.

Education Required: Bachelor's degree required; current enrollment in one of the degrees within the graduate program in Higher Education Leadership at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ.

Experience Required: One year of experience in writing, statistics and sports marketing at the college level preferred

Skills, Characteristics Required for Position:

  • Ability to administer components of athletics communication work (i.e., statistics, social media, web site, publications) with good knowledge of computer systems;
  • Ability to speak and write appropriately and to assist in developing marketing strategies to reach supporters and regional/national media;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the stages of student development and the importance of holistic education;
  • Ability to be a team player within the Athletics Department and ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ;
  • Good judgment, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued learning/professional development (i.e., presentations, workshops, regional and/or national conferences;
  • Christian faith commitment required.
  • Ability to lead student workers in a gameday setting.

Special Working Conditions: Required to work weekends and evenings

Primary Duties:

  • Assist in the production of content for GoÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ.com, social media, live streams, and other platforms.
  • Generate postgame, award, and preview articles as well as other content pieces for GoÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ.com
  • Manage live video streams for GoÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ.tv.
  • Take and maintain photography at games.
  • Assist in responding to requests from the conference, NCAA, opponents, and local and national news media.
  • Supervise and take statistics at contests and keep season statistics updated.
  • Assist in developing and coordinating marketing and promotional opportunities.
  • Oversee the reporting of scores and other results to appropriate media and constituents after contests.
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.

Secondary Duties

  • Maintain athletics communication files.
  • Assist with setup and teardown of productions.
  • Creating graphics and promotional videos.
  • Other duties as assigned.
