Approved Driver List:

The Approved Drivers List is located on Falconlink  or click here, this list is updated weekly.

 

Approved Driver Status

In order to drive a university vehicle, you must qualify as an approved driver. 

Instructions

The following documentation is required to renew your approved driver status:

  1. The Application for Approved Driver Status Driver Application
  2. Motor Vehicle (MVR) Request Authorization Form 
  3. Proof of auto insurance
  • If you maintain your own auto insurance, provide a copy of your insurance card. 
  • If you are on your parent’s policy, provide a copy of the Declaration Page which has your name as an insured driver.
  1. The Safe Driving Program Verification Form (Self-Study course) Complete Safe Driving Program. (Copy and print last page, then fill out and attach to Driver Application.) 

Submit documents

When you have assembled the required documents, you can drop them off with Dianne Kirsch, University Receptionist, Eisenhower Campus Center, or email them to dkirsch@messiah.edu.

Results

The MVR authorization forms are sent weekly to the university’s insurance agency for processing to determine whether to approve you or not.  Once the university receives the results, you will receive an email indicating your status – approved or denied.  The turnaround time from the insurance company is typically fast, but it may take up to two weeks.

Approved

The approved status is valid for:

  • 1 year for students
  • 2 years for employees

15-passenger van testing

If you were approved previously to drive a 15-passenger van, you do not need to retake the behind-the-wheel test.

If you need to drive a 15-passenger van, please sign up for behind the wheel testing, after you receive your approval notification.

  • In FALCONlink – select the “All Training Classes” card.
  • Under the dropdown box, select “15 Passenger Van Test”. 
  • Select any available date/time. 
  • You will receive an email confirmation of your test date.

BEFORE SCHEDULING A VAN OR TRUCK TEST, YOU MUST HAVE COMPLETED THE APPLICATION, MVR FORM, SAFE DRIVING PROGRAM SELF STUDY COURSE, PROVIDED PROOF OF INSURANCE AND HAVE RECEIVED YOUR MVR CONFIRMATION EMAIL.

Golf Cart + Off-Road Vehicles

Anyone who will operate a golf cart or off-road vehicle is required to do the following:

  • View the “Driving Safety of Off-Road Vehicles” PowerPoint located below.

  • Once the PowerPoint is viewed, print and sign the Verification Form, Page 28 at the end. Turn a copy of the signed verification form into your supervisor. Department supervisors are responsible for maintaining records of verification and providing operational training.
