SOAR Peer Mentoring Program

About the Program

The Soar Peer Mentoring Program is an initiative out of the Office of Student Success to primarily support new first-time students, but is for any ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ student desiring peer mentorship.

Peer learning and support is the foundation of the program. By equipping current upperclass ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ students to serve in the role of a mentor, we hope that intentional friendships and impactful relationships can be formed. Ultimately, the program is designed to help students transition to college, find belonging in the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ community, and grow personally.

Students in the SOAR Program can expect to experience:

  • Early arrival to campus on Wednesday, August 21st 2024
  • Specific welcome week activities for the program
  • Monthly in-person meetings with peer mentor
  • Life Talks to engage in topics related to personal growth and development
  • Consistent text/group chat communication from mentors during the semester
  • Planned group activities
  • Semester-end celebrations

Program Goals

1. To support Student Success Pathway students as they transition to college and persist towards their next year at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ.

2. To provide peer leadership opportunities to current ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ
