Sherri Freas was a kindergarten teacher for 15 years. When she decided to earn a master’s degree, you might have thought she would go for education, but she didn’t. Instead, she earned an M.A. in counseling and began a career that led to her opening a thriving private practice.
“Going to ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ was a midlife career shift,” she said. “I decided to change careers and ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ's online program was a perfect fit to allow me to balance school and family.”
After graduating, Sherri earned the LPC and LMFT licenses and began counseling clients with opiate addiction. During this time, she became a certified advanced alcohol and drug counselor. Not only did she feel fully prepared to enter the counseling field, both of her supervisors for licensure were impressed with the depth of understanding that ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ's program provided.
Sherri said that advancing her education as a counselor not only allows her to provide a valuable service by helping others in the community, but it has helped her become a successful small business owner.
“I am very glad that I chose ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ's program, and I can honestly say that I love being in private practice,” she said. “I am very happy with the path I have been able to take.”
