Elizabeth Colpo has had a lifelong passion for choral music. She grew up singing jazz standards from the American Songbook, with the encouragement of her mother, a pianist. “I fell in love with choir during high school, through a wonderfully edifying experience at Cedar Cliff with teacher James Hoffmann,” she said. “It is a joy to create and facilitate these types of experiences for my students today!”
Even though Elizabeth got a job that she loved after earning her undergraduate degree, she still wanted to pursue a master’s degree. “I found ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ's Master of Music in choral conducting to be the perfect fit for me,” she said. “I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to hone my craft, working with knowledgeable and accomplished professors in a respected school of music, all while maintaining my teaching position.”
As director of choirs, Elizabeth directs three curricular choirs, teaches music theory and is the vocal director for the spring musical. “In addition to teaching, I am currently ABD for the Doctor of Musical Arts in music education through Boston University, and have the honor of serving as President of the PA chapter of the American Choral Directors Association,” she said. “I’m grateful to ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ for providing the opportunity to dig deeper into my work as a choral music educator!”
