Sofia Salinas graduated from the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ College Percussion Studio in May of 2017 with a degree in Music Education and K-12 certification. Following her time at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ, Sofia continued her education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, PA, where she obtained her Masters of Education in Special Education, PreK-8th grade and an Autism Spectrum Disorder Endorsement in December of 2018. While at IUP, Sofia also served as a full time Graduate Assistant for the Department of Communication Disorders, Special Education, and Disability Services. As a graduate assistant, she presented research on how music education impacts achievement in and outside of the classroom for students with disabilities at the IUP Graduate Scholars Forum and the Pennsylvania Association Council for Exceptional Children’s 59th annual convention in Hershey,PA in the spring of 2018. Sofia is currently a preschool special education teacher at the School at McGuire Memorial in New Brighton, PA.
