Medical-Surgical Nursing, Leadership, Assessment
Professional nursing has been a goal for Dr. Sarah D. Jones since around age 13. She is a first generation college graduate and the first Registered Nurse in her family. In addition to being a nurse educator, Dr. Jones has nursing experience in hospital administration, emergency department, same-day surgery, endoscopy, pain management, and telemetry/step-down care. Dr. Jones began her career in 1992 seeing herself as an RN who happened to be a Christian but then learned that she is, more importantly, a Christian who happens to be an RN. By demonstrating hope, faith and compassionate informed care, she aims to positively affect patients, families, the profession, and society. Since joining the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ community in 2014, Dr. Jones feels honored to help ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ’s nursing students understand the Christian nurse’s purpose and opportunities for service and reconciliation. Dr. Jones earned a BSN, MSN (Nursing Administration), and PhD in Administrative and Leadership Studies in the Nonprofit Sector from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She is a Certified Nurse Educator and her research interests include mentoring, self-efficacy for behavior change, testing success for nursing students, and academic success for post-secondary students, especially those of color. Dr. Jones and her husband Anthony enjoy movies, entertaining friends and family, walks, cooking, and traveling with their sons Anthony, Aaron, and Austin.
