Dr. Kristen Slabaugh earned a BSN from ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ in 2005 and worked as a Women’s Health and Labor & Delivery Level 4 RN at Hershey Medical Center. She completed an MS Family Nurse Practitioner at Penn State University in 2010 and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (FNP track) with a post-master’s certificate in Nursing Education in 2017. Since 2011, she has been on faculty in the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Department of Nursing undergraduate and graduate programs. She served as the Coordinator of the DNP program from 2017-2024, Chair of the Interprofessional Education Collaboration committee from 2019-2024, and is a Certified Nurse Educator. She currently serves as the Assistant of Nursing. In 2020, she won the President’s Award for excellence in curricular design/course creation and accreditation preparation. Dr. Slabaugh maintains clinical practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner in urgent care and home health.
Dr. Slabaugh’s scholarly and translational research interests include depression, anxiety, and emotional intelligence in the college-aged and young adult populations, spiritual care, and interprofessional collaboration. She has published in several journals and is a reviewer for the Journal of Doctoral Nursing Practice and the Journal of Interpersonal Violence. She is a member of the National League for Nursing (NLN), the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty (NONPF), Sigma Theta Tau International, and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
Outside the office, Dr. Slabaugh enjoys traveling, going to the beach with her husband (ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ ’05) and three children, and managing her hobby farm. She enjoys providing pregnancy, lactation, and post-partum support to new moms and teaching women’s health to middle and high school girls.
